Inktober 52 week 48: Yawn.

In the centre yawned the circular pit from whose jaws I had escaped…

Inktober52, week 43: Chef.

The Inktober52 page on inktober.com hasn’t updated to the next prompt yet, so I went back and did #43 (which was also Inktober #22). I kept expecting the next prompt to drop, and each day that it didn’t I put some more work into this one, which originally was just going to be a loose sketch.

The composition leaves a bit to be desired, but I had fun with it.

Inktober52 Week 44: Shoes.

I’ve decided to keep going with the Inktober52 prompts, which drop once a week all year round. I think having a bit more time will give me a better shot at what I was trying (and often failing) to do during Inktober, which is to post a more or less completed illustration for each prompt. Maybe after doing 11 months of these, then during October I can cut myself some slack and have fun with more of the simpler, vignetted sketches.

This first one was also day 29 of Inktober: Shoes. A character sketch from one of my (many) (too damn many) (really, really just way too many) story ideas. Using a bamboo reed pen, which is a wonderful drawing tool just introduced to me. It’s going to take me a while to get the hang of it, but I already like it better than my crow quill or markers. There’s something about the line quality that feels more humanistic, kind of like something in between a pen and a brush. I’m a fan so far!

Inktober 28: Float.

At this point, I’m going to be getting these done as I can.
